Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters bagged the Miss Universe 2017 crown at the pageant's coronation in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday night (US time).
Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters also earned her degree in Business Management at North-West University as well as managed two leadership positions at her high school.
Along with the title, Nel-Peters earned a yearlong salary, a luxury apartment in New York City for the duration of her reign and more prizes. The pageant victor started the program after she was robbed at gunpoint shortly after she was crowned as Miss South Africa.
Davina Bennett, Miss Universe Jamaica 2017, finished in 3rd place at the final of the Miss Universe which was held tonight in Las Vegas.

After the show, Nel-Peters said women can empower each other to standup against any abuse.
"As Miss Universe, you have to be confident in who you are as an individual", she said. "They are all winners; they are winners of their own countries, and to me, that was so empowering".

The Minister said also that, "she displayed poise, confidence and the true Jamaican spirit during the show".
Harvey, a five-time Emmy Award victor, mentioned the moment from when he announced the wrong victor at 2015 Miss Universe.

She adds, "A truly magical evening, welcome to the family Demi!"
