New Infiniti QX50 to use world's first production variable compression ratio engine

Only a single image has been released but it shows the new SUV heavily inspired by the concept of the same name, which was unveiled earlier this year. According to the company, the platform sets "new standards for refinement, rigidity and interior space" in the medium SUV segment. Labeled as the VC-Turbo, the technology should provide "a breakthrough in combustion engine design".

The 2-litre VC-Turbo petrol engine in the QX50 can adjust its compression ratio from 8:1 to 14:1, which will allow the driver to make full use of the 280hp available for performance, or dial everything back to return the most effective fuel economy. It does this through a unique multi-link mechanism that is able to raise or lower the pistons' reach. The relatively nascent luxury brand may be looking for a new flagship with more technology, a defining sedan or crossover to shape the automaker's mold going forward, or a new powertrain to cement its status as a forward-thinking, fuel efficient marque. The 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder is said to produce 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with a combined fuel efficiency of 9.05L/100km for all-wheel-drive models.

US President Donald Trump , in a post on Twitter on Friday, called the assault a " horrible and cowardly terrorist attack". The security officers said the men opened fire on worshipers during prayers while driving in off-road vehicles.

Of course, it will also be equipped with the brand's semi-autonomous-driving ProPilot feature. The new QX50 loses its rear-wheel-drive proportions, but gains roughly 20 percent more cargo volume behind the second row. It consists of functions that help the driver accelerate, brake and steer the vehicle in single-lane highway driving conditions, providing autonomous-like functionality, activating at the push of a button.
