Police said the incident was not an active shooter situation, but was instead related to an offense and that one suspect was involved.

Arlington police are investigating an officer-involved shooting inside The Parks at Arlington mall Sunday afternoon. It all started when police say the man stole sunglasses from a store. The suspect, on the escalator, appears to be pointing a firearm at the police officer on the lower deck.

"I hear a guy saying "hey" and I was just like looking at him and he literally just pulled a gun, try to shoot a cop because the cop was ride beside my kiosk", Cabriales said.

An hour later is when they received the theft call at The Parks Mall. He warned the dispatcher that he had a gun and would shoot at police if they tried to pursue him.

Cook couldn't say what felony charge Dodd faced previously, citing law which forbids the release of such information by police. She told police that she had loaned the vehicle to Dodd on Friday. "It's believed that's the result of that shooting", Cook said.
