Patriots claim veteran TE Martellus Bennett off waivers

10 November 2017

Bill Belichick strikes again.

The team claimed tight end Martellus Bennett off waivers Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bennett was released by the Packers on Wednesday afternoon after seven disappointing games with a failure to disclose an injury designation.

Meek Mill Sentenced to 2-4 Years in Prison for Violating Probation
Most recently, in February 2016, Meek Mill was put on house arrest for 90 days after another probation violation. Meek's probation stems from a 2008 drugs and weapons conviction, which he served eight months in prison for.

Bennett has recently dealt with a shoulder injury that has kept him out of games.

Martellus Bennett is headed back to New England. Things didn't work out exactly as expected but rejoining the Patriots puts him squarely back in the top 12 tight end conversation.

Bennett signed with the Packers as an unrestricted free agent last off-season. Bennett had 701 receiving yards and seven touchdowns with the Patriots in 2016.

Google Search and Maps Now Show You Estimated Wait Times at Restaurants
It will then come to Google Maps to Android, at which point it will expand to include grocery stores, the company says. Scrolling left or right will provide a summary of each day's wait times below the hour bars.

Earlier this season, Bennett stated as well on social media that he was strongly considering this season to be his last season in the National Football League as well, which might encourage some more teams to pick him up knowing he's not committed to playing for them next season. However, they let him walk in free agency because they didn't want to meet his asking price. He added that Bennett "disputes the notion that he hid anything" in terms of an injury.

There's also a possibility that Bennett hangs up his cleats after this season.

However, Bennett struggled to click with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, catching 20 passes for 194 yards and no touchdowns before Green Bay's most important player suffered a broken collarbone in Week 6.

Gordon and Hosmer both win another Gold Glove
Cincinnati Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart has been named victor of the National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award for his position. For Gordon, he has sustained his excellence defensively for quite a while now, and these awards are just the icing on the cake.

The Patriots immediately made room for Bennett by waiving defensive end Geneo Grissom, so Allen and third-string tight end Jacob Hollister stay on the roster for now.
