Why a Star Wars game is making Reddit really mad

DICE seems to be taking what fans want under big consideration and that's why the game will undergo several changes until it reaches the players' expectations. Unlocking a hero is a great accomplishment in the game, something we want players to have fun earning. However, according to Wasilczykt, "it's clear that more changes are needed". If you've been curious to know more about the game's Imperial protagonist Iden Versio, then these first two missions should give you a good idea of her demeanor and personality.

Another player questioned why EA would lock Skywalker and Vader in a Star Wars game, presumably referring to their commonplace presence in the franchise. While credits are earned in a number of other ways - including through campaign milestones, multiplayer achievements and exchanging duplicate Star Cards gained through loot boxes - it translated to an extraordinary time cost to get at characters many players expected would be a part of the main game. An update coming today reduces Vader and Skywalker's unlock costs to 15,000 credits, the in-game currency that cannot be bought for real money (though it can be indirectly acquired; more on that in a second).

Wasilczyk continues: "We're reducing the amount of credits needed to unlock the top heroes by 75%".

Broadcom, meanwhile, is seeking to buy U.S. rival Brocade Communications in a deal being reviewed by Washington. In an email, a Qualcomm spokesperson said the company "won't have any comment beyond this statement".

As news of the post spread, fans looked for a way to get a refund for the game, and the vibe in the community went from gungans dancing in the streets of Naboo at the end of Episode I to Darth Vader saying "no" at the end of Episode 3.

However, Wasilczyk made no mention of a refund for people who paid the higher values for the hero unlocks. Things are likely to change rather quickly given that EA has the most downvoted Reddit comment of all time regarding this situation, and we'd hate for our review to be an inaccurate reflection of the game. We're making the changes to the credit levels for unlocking heroes and we're going to keep making changes to improve the game experience over time.

You do not encourage horrendous grinding curves that encourage microtransaction boosts to unlock heroes and try to flip it on the community to tell players that grinding for dozens of hours drives "a sense of pride and accomplishment".
