Director Bryan Singer fired from Freddie Mercury biopic

The decision reflected an escalating clash between Singer and actor Rami Malek and was caused by Singer's being missing from the set, necessitating the December 1 production shutdown of the film in which Malek stars as Freddie Mercury, frontman of the rock group Queen, which has been shooting in London.

'This was a very taxing experience which ultimately took a serious toll on my own health. Now, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that 20th Century Fox has fired Singer from the film. Reports say that the two got into a heated argument one day that ended with Singer throwing something although there was no physical confrontation between the director and actor.

Well, well, well, Bryan Singer, it looks like you did crack.under pressure.

Trouble began when Singer went absent during production on several occasions.

Whatever Singer's reasons are for abandoning Bohemian Rhapsody, he'll now be forced to watch Fox and producer Graham King hire someone else to finish the film.

While Singer's behavior had reportedly become erratic on the set of his Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, it sounds like 20th Century Fox has had enough.

Per the outlet, Fox's decision comes amid growing tension on set between Singer and star Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), who is playing Freddy Mercury.

That prompted the studio to suspend production with three weeks of principal photography left before eventually firing Singer on Monday.

Singer reportedly failed to return to the set after their Thanksgiving holiday break which resulted in the production suspension and now his termination by Fox.

Singer also spoke of this situation with THR: "Rumours that my unexpected departure from the film was sparked by a dispute I had with Rami Malek are not true". This meant that his cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel had to step into the helm some days while Singer was absent. Singer, the former "X-Men" director who has describes "Bohemian Rhapsody" as a passion project, has since said he left the U.K. -based production to care for an ill parent in the United States.
