Instagram updated its Stories feature on Tuesday. Today, Instagram Stories is getting two new features that might be bigger than all of the rest. From there, you can decide to add parts of it to your current Story, share a highlight as a post or add it as a highlight to your profile. On your profile there is an Archive button that will show you your post archive and allow you to switch to your Stories Archive. Starting immediately, when the 24 hour period for any of your Stories expires, they will be saved on your Stories Archive. Stories Highlights is a new part of your profile where you can express more of who you are through stories you've shared.
Right now, the grid of photos on each user's profile functions kind of like a scrapbook of moments, whereas the ephemeral Stories are more for live updates, but these new features bridge that gap.
Introducing Stories Highlights and Stories Archive – Instagram
I think it's fair to say Instagram is the most loved social media app, especially in comparison to Snapchat. Though the company (which could go months on end without significant app updates prior to Stories) has been spinning out new features for more than a year now, updates have barely touched profiles.
Recall that Snapchat introduced a similar feature in 2016-and so it's another one copied from the company by Instagram. Now, you might have noticed that we said you can select the stories you want to highlight by accessing your Stories Archive. The Highlighted stories feature will offer them another way to personalize their pages. To create a new Highlight, users just need to tap the circular "New" icon that's on the top left. Though we did have the option to pick and choose which stories to download (and still do), this will make it easier and not something that you have to moderate yourself.
OU faces Georgia at the Rose Bowl in CFB Playoff
The playoff selection committee unveils its final four and then sets the matchups for the rest of the major New Year's bowls. Clemson - the committee's No. 1 team in last week's top 25 - cruised to an easy win over Miami in the ACC Championship.
The second feature that is coming to Stories is called Archive.
From there you will be able to view, share, or add to a highlight right from your archive.
Winds whip up in Southern California fires, prompting evacuations
More than 27,000 people were evacuated and one firefighter suffered bumps and bruises in a vehicle accident in Ventura County. The blaze broke out on Monday and quickly burned 4,000 hectares in hours, Ventura County Fire Sergeant Eric Buschow said.
Only you can see your archived stories, and you can choose to turn off auto-archiving at any time in your profile settings. Your highlight will appear as a circle on your profile that plays as a stand-alone story when someone taps it.
Users can create as many Highlights as they want, and they can be continuously added to.
