Marijuana: Pregnant Women Are Using More Cannabis, Says New Study

Researchers observed a sample of pregnant women in California and saw a 3-percent increase in use form 2009 through 2016.

While only about 30 percent of the pregnant women in the study reported that they used marijuana in a survey, about 55 percent tested positive for it in a drug screen, though self-reporting did increase in line with use each year.

Researchers said reefer gladness among pregnant women under 18, jumped from 9.8% to 19% and from 12.5% to 21.8% for women in the 18 to 24-year-old demographic.

The research published Tuesday involved only certain women in California, according to CNN.
