Special counsel Robert Mueller's office spent $3.2 million during the first few months of his investigation into Russian election interference and possible coordination with associates of President Donald Trump.
But despite multiple United States media outlets reporting that Mr Mueller's investigation had expanded to include Mr Trump's personal financial records, one of the President's lawyers said that was not the case.
Trump's relationship with Deutsche Bank stretches back some two decades and the roughly $300 million he owes to the bank represents almost half of his outstanding debt, according to a July 2016 analysis compiled by Bloomberg news agency.

But until Mueller opts to bring his investigation into the public eye, we're unlikely to know for sure whether he's chose to cast his net so broadly. But the Deutsche Bank subpoena may indicate that the special prosecutor is still looking at a wide range of data, including the president's financial dealings.
