NSA employee pleads guilty to removing classified information

03 December 2017

Unidentified officials from the United States government, who could only speak about the classified details on the condition they remain anonymous, said that Pho took the classified documents home with him to help him rewrite his resume, the Times reported. "Pho removed and retained US government documents and writings that contained national defense information, including information classified as Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information".

The case's details match reports of an NSA worker who had government hacking tools copied from his home computer by Kaspersky Lab software.

Pho is the third person working for the NSA to be arrested for removing classified information since October of past year - with contractor Reality Winner and NSA employee Harold Martin III preceding him.

Pho reportedly faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

Frisina has played soccer at Fort White High School, according to an online roster published by Next College Student Athlete. During the family's statement, the girl held her father, Rodd Frisina, closely and nestled under his chin, eyes closed.

The NSA has not commented on the report, but the Department of Homeland Security subsequently issued a directive banning all USA agencies from using Kaspersky products.

Pho's sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 6, 2018.

In a November investigative report on the incident, Kaspersky Lab said its software had "inadvertently" retrieved the NSA tools because they were contained in a larger file that had NSA code in it that the firm classifies as malicious.

Pho is the same former NSA employee implicated in previous reports involving the Russian government and Kaspersky Lab, a Moscow-based antivirus vendor accused of being a conduit for the Putin administration's global espionage efforts, both The Times and Reuters reported Friday.

In contrast, Hyderabad has shown a declining trend with 386 cases being registered in 2014 and 291 cases in 2016. Uttar Pradesh missed the dubious distinction of recording most rape cases in the country by a whisker.

Pho is at least the third NSA employee or contractor to be charged within the past two years on counts of improperly taking classified information from the agency, breaches that have prompted criticism of the secretive NSA.

Kaspersky executives have repeatedly denied allegations that the company is working with Russian intelligence.

The agency's loss of control over its sensitive hacking tools has caused great concern at its Fort Meade headquarters, at the Pentagon and in Congress. Harold Martin, an NSA contractor, was indicted in February for stealing up to 50 terabytes of data during a 20 year period, The Times said.

A federal grand jury indicted former NSA contractor Harold Martin in February on charges alleging he spent up to 20 years stealing up to 50 terabytes of highly sensitive government material from the USA intelligence community, which were hoarded at his home.

And in 2013, former contractor Edward Snowden pilfered secrets about NSA's surveillance programs and shared them with journalists. He has pleaded not guilty.
