US President Donald Trump questions FBI's integrity in Russian Federation investigation

27 December 2017

President Donald Trump continued his assault on his chief law enforcement agency on Monday by calling the FBI "tainted" because it has reportedly included a salacious dossier about the president in the investigation into Russia's interference in the US election.

It is hazy what part - if any - the dossier may have played in the FBI's sprawling test, which started vigorously a year ago after presumed Russian agents hacked the Democratic National Committee.

While it was unclear which particular discussion Trump was attempting to quote, "Fox and Friends" hosts did discuss the Steele dossier on Tuesday morning.

The remarks that Trump referenced in the tweet were made by both a Fox News correspondent who was facilitating the morning appear, Todd Piro, and previous congressman and current Fox News supporter Jason Chaffetz. "If that happens, have you gone, well, way, way beyond anything of reason and somebody should be prosecuted for that".

Since then, she said, her daughter has been "living in hell" sharing a jail cell with no beds with up to 25 other women. Her family had been told that she could face up to 25 years in jail, with one lawyer even mentioning the death penalty.

Chaffetz stated "The dossier we have long known is bogus".

Early Tuesday morning, before he teed off from his Florida resort, Trump fired off a tweet laden with capital letters about the "bogus" Steele dossier, attacking both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Hillary Clinton in the process.

And with more Republican members of Congress saying things like there needs to be a "purge", he said there's no question of a "coordinated effort" here.

And earlier this week, a report from TabletMag suggested it would be precedent-setting for what President Trump has described as a swamp in Washington to actually have used government channels and resources to make up allegations about a presidential candidate, and then a president-elect.

The dossier was compiled by retired British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. "It's fraud stuff. It didn't occur".

The document-which was never meant to be made public and therefore wasn't vetted - contains a number of outlandish claims, leading many to view the entire dossier with a healthy dose of skepticism. "FBI TAINTED, '" he wrote on Twitter. "The casualty here is the President".
