Vontaze Burfict Carted off After Hit by JuJu Smith-Schuster

08 December 2017

The NFL issued one-game suspensions to Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Bengals safety George Iloka for illegal hits during their Monday Night Football showdown at Paul Brown Stadium.

It was definitely a questionable play since Burfict took a shot to the head and neck area, and after the game, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green criticized Smith-Schuster and said it was a "dirty hit".

It wasn't enough that Juju Smith-Schuster hurt Vontaze Burfict, he had to taunt him about it as well. Sure, it's a violent game, but the rules expressly forbid hits like the one Smith-Schuster laid on Burfict.

If he loses the appeal, the Steelers will face the Ravens without a receiver who has caught 37 balls for 585 yards and five touchdowns this season.

At Least 3 Dead In New Mexico High School Shooting
Kyle Lincoln from the San Juan County Sheriff Department are clearing the building and actively searching the school. Christesen said the shooter also died, but it is unknown whether the suspect was among the three confirmed deaths.

It has been reported that Smith-Schuster will appeal the decision.

UPDATE: Smith-Schuster's suspension is now official.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he was surprised by the suspension.

"I haven't had an opportunity to see the television copy often times particularly in HD - that provides the best case scenario", Tomlin said, per NFL.com "I'll stand by my statement last night that his actions after the hit are more disturbing than the hit itself".

JuJu Smith-Schuster, who scored a touchdown against the Ravens and had 47 yards receiving in the Steelers' 26-9 victory at M&T Bank Stadium on October 1, has been suspended for one game by the National Football League for a violation of safety-related playing rules. "I didn't mean to stand over him. You do the wrong things, you get the wrong things out of it". The unsportsmanlike conduct is not me.

After the game, Brown yelled "karma" repeatedly.

Don't get me wrong, he is still overall being a contributor.

"I like that. I like that", said Brown of the block.
