08 January 2018

Jon Gruden has been named as the new head coach of the Oakland Raiders, 17 years after he left the franchise.

The Sunday announcement came shortly after Gruden's final broadcast as an ESPN game analyst.

It had been reported from a number of media outlets that Gruden would return as coach and receive a formal introduction Tuesday during a news conference.

For the guards , Curry is followed by the Houston Rockets' James Harden (602,040) and Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook (438,469). Through 38 games, the two-time All-Star MVP is averaging 27.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and a career-high 9.1 assists per game.

The Mercury News said the 54-year-old Gruden had signed the richest coaching contract in the National Football League, with the agreement worth $100 million over 10 years. Gruden left with a 40-28 record, including one appearance in the AFC title game.

The Raiders fired Jack Del Rio after the team went 6-10 following a season in which they made the playoffs with a record of 12-4. "We congratulate you as you head back to the sidelines with the Raiders".

The Buccaneers, with Gruden, won Super Bowl XXXVII on January 26, 2003 (48-21).

State TV reported on Tuesday that the latest clashes between protesters and security forces have killed nine more people. The local governor said the protesters were armed.

All this combined led to the firing of Del Rio at the conclusion of his third season and the fight to get Gruden. Late owner Al Davis hired Art Shell in 2006, 11 years after firing him the first time. When Jon Gruden returns to the Raiders as head coach, he will be bringing along Greg Olson as his offensive coordinator. For ESPN, Gruden was present for the 2010 Rose Bowl and 2010 BCS National Championship game for ESPN radio.

"Coach as we wrap this one up, all of us last night in our production meeting had a chance to tell you what we think about you, and how much you've meant to us and to Monday Night Football, and what a great way to send you off".

Last Wednesday, Gruden appeared on "Golic and Wingo" to talk about his answer the obvious question: Is he going to be the Raiders' next coach?
