Early Warning - Possible Snow - Easter Monday

30 March 2018

Easter weekend looks set to be disrupted by a blast of cold and wintry weather with the Met Office now upgrading its warning of snow across Yorkshire.

The Met Office warning says: "Possibility of heavy snow over parts of England, Wales and southern Scotland".

However heavy rain and even possible hill snow is likely later on Easter Sunday and into Monday.

"Where there are impacts from this they could be significant and we could see snow to low levels for a time".

SoftBank, Saudi Arabia to create World's Biggest Solar Power Project
SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son revealed the project Tuesday in NY at a ceremony with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. The crown prince is pursuing structural reforms in Saudi Arabia to reduce the reliance of the country's economy on oil.

However, the warning adds that "it is quite possible that snow might not be too disruptive".

Prolonged periods of rain and snow are forecast to lash Britain in the coming days as the weather turns "generally unsettled and cold" during Easter.

After a chilly, dry and bright start on Friday, outbreaks of rain will edge north through the day. Expect mostly rain south and mostly snow north along the ND border. "Most likely to rain down towards the south".

Monday night, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers, with a low of 41, according to the weather service.

The money that was pumped in Air India earlier would be used for public welfare sectors like healthcare and farmers, Sinha said. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government took a decisive step in that direction - of exiting Air India.

Saturday will turn drier, brighter and colder with a brisk north easterly wind, paving the way for a "widespread frost" on Easter Sunday for much of the country and the potential of lows of -5 in parts of Scotland.

Sunday is forecast to be a much calmer day, with more settled conditions and spells of sunshine, despite some rain in northern England.

The mean temperature was 2.2°C (36°F) - more than 3°C colder than the long-term monthly average.

Saturday, the high will be near 57 with partly sunny skies and a southwest wind of 11 to 15 miles per hour, becoming north in the afternoon, according to the weather service. But driving could be tricky with blowing snow in the air. The snow remained on the ground until early April.
