Microsoft's Joe Belfiore Confirms Windows 10 S Mode Arriving In 2019

It means that the operating system will no longer remain a dedicated version starting 2019, and will shift to its Windows 10 S Mode.

Rumors of Windows 10 S's demise - as a distinct operating system - have been confirmed. Just 10 months after announcing the new operating system, Microsoft on Tuesday evening confirmed that it is being scrapped next year. Understandably, it's been a bit hard to determine how to classify what's essentially functioned as a forked version of the company's broader OS.

Some recent estimates suggest Chrome OS now owns about 60% of the United States education market in grades K-12. In a blog post Microsoft says the objective of the new design is to "help our customers make focused choices about their privacy" and as a bonus it offers two new settings for Inking & Typing and Find my device.
