ABC gets it, but Roseanne Barr and Donald Trump do not

31 May 2018

President Trump's first public reaction to the cancellation of "Roseanne" is a shot at Disney CEO Bob Iger.

What he didn't say is just as notable.

"Roseanne has said herself that she does not want what she says to overshadow the show in any way, and I do hope that she will continue to be thoughtful about what she shares on social media going forward", ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in the same article.

Trump tweeted that the CEO of ABC's parent company called Valerie Jarrett to say the network wouldn't tolerate Barr's tweet about her. Trump wrote that CEO Bob Iger never call him to apologize for "the disgusting statements" that have been said about him on ABC".

Both Trump and Barr have been longtime supporters of each other. "Even though the show was a ratings success, forces within ABC didn't like the fact that her conservative defense of certain things was so popular".

Apple's iOS 11.4 could finally make the HomePod worth buying
Thanks to AirPlay 2 , you'll be able to sync up music playback on multiple AirPlay 2-compatible speakers throughout your home. Apple TV running tvOS 11 .4 will also now show up in the Home app on an iOS device as long as that device is running iOS 11.4.

And Barr pointed a finger at Wanda Sykes, the show's consulting producer, for ultimately causing the show's demise.

In response, Barr shot back: "i created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it. ME".

She also faulted Iger for not apologizing to Trump after ESPN personality Jemele Hill called Trump a "white supremacist".

Twitter users immediately pounced on Barr's claim that her sleeping pill led her to write the offensive tweet. The tweet was widely condemned as racist. Jarrett, who is African-American and was born in Shiraz, Iran, is neither Muslim nor a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

And after blaming the sleep medication for the Twitter rant, Barr also turned to a surprising target - her "Roseanne" team.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Spark Dating Rumors After Recent Outings
So, he was like 'Hey, you wanna go together?' And I was like, 'Yeah, OK, let's go together.' So, it just ended up working out". The latest reports have confirmed that PeeCee is, in fact, dating Jonas and they surely make for a good looking couple.

"I just knew that this would not end well", Arnold said. He is implying that he is the victim of a liberal media double standard.

There are additional political overtones to the tweet because Iger seriously considered a 2020 run against Trump. He deliberated about it with friends and financiers previous year, but ultimately decided against a run.

Iger and Jarrett did not immediately respond to requests for comment about Trump's tweet. The opinions expressed in this commentary are his own. On Tuesday, when Sarah Sanders was asked for Trump's view about the cancellation, Sanders said "that's not what the president is looking at". Some of the retweets promoted conspiracy theories and anti-ABC grievances.

Both former executives praised ABC for moving swiftly when presented with Barr's tweet.

She zig-zagged between apologizing for her remarks and retweeting memes that made her apology sound insincere. One stupid joke in a lifetime of fighting for civil rights for all minorities, against networks, studios, at the expense of my nervous system/family/wealth will NEVER be taken from me, ' she said in one post.
