A US National Guard cargo plane has crashed onto a busy highway in Georgia moments after taking off from a nearby airport, narrowly missing people on the ground but killing at least nine members from Puerto Rico.
"As far as we know, there were no cars hit in this crash", Ms. Bilbo said.
Still, Wednesday's crash was a new blemish on the plane's record, coming nearly 10 months after fifteen Marines and a sailor died when an air tanker version of the plane, a KC-130T, plunged into farmland in rural Mississippi.

"They will receive our support and that of the National Guard of Puerto Rico in this process". The US #military experienced tragedy in Port Wentworth, Georgia just hours after Southwest experienced its window issue.

The plane took off from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, according to Senior Master Sgt. Roger Parsons of 165th Air National Guard.
