THE owner of a Hanoi noodle shop where Anthony Bourdain slurped down "bun cha" with former USA president Barack Obama expressed her shock and sorrow today over the death of the globetrotting celebrity chef.
According to the Times, Ripert told Bourdain's mother, Gladys, that her son had been "in a dark mood these last couples of days".
In an earlier interview on the road with People, Bourdain said he had no plans to retire.
He had everything. Success beyond his wildest dreams.
Tributes continued to pour in on social media for the 61-year-old, who was believed to have committed suicide when he was found dead in his hotel room in France on Friday. He promoted his Mexican-born sous chef, the late Carlos Llaguno Garcia, to run two of his NY restaurants and complained loudly about the United States' "ridiculously hypocritical attitudes" toward immigration.
Justify wins the Belmont Stakes, earning the coveted Triple Crown
Smith let Justify roll through a first quarter in:23.37, then subtly eased up the tempo to mark the half-mile in:48.11. Seattle Slew's Triple Crown - four years after that of Secretariat , was swiftly followed by Affirmed's in 1978.
"All I can tell you is this: I got off of heroin in the 1980s".
Fans of Anthony Bourdain have been joined by former United States president Barack Obama and UK celebrity chefs in mourning his loss.
Karen Reynolds, director of CNN PR and Bourdain's longtime publicist for Parts Unknown, painted a different picture to People Magazine. "He was effusive and happy about the Hong Kong episode that was all he could talk about weeks leading up to it, how it was like a high water mark for him", Reynolds said of the episode that his girlfriend Asia Argento directed. The celebrity chef was in France working on an upcoming episode of his CNN series.
And a source told People that Bourdain had a taxing work schedule as he filmed "Parts Unknown" in the months before his death. He used the belt from his bathrobe to hang himself.
'Attitude,' not preparation, key for North Korea summit
On Wednesday, Mr Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani said North Korea's leader had "begged" for their summit to go ahead. Mr Abe requested the meeting with Mr Trump to ensure Japan's interests are represented in the Trump-Kim meeting.
Schroeder now proudly - sadly - displays what he thinks was one of Bourdain's last postings on Instagram, a shot of the choucrote he served the TV personality he instantly liked. I pray for you all.
"I am proud to have known this man a little, maybe enough to call him friend". Wang writes that he was still in college and didn't even know who Bourdain was at the time.
'Things have been happening, ' Bourdain said.
Closer to home, Bourdain was an early supporter of #MeToo, noting he'd met several women who'd told him terrible stories of abuse.
Chef Wan said he was blessed at having the opportunity to have met Bourdain and thanked him for sharing his culinary talent with the world. "We'll miss him", Obama tweeted. "You can get a master's in diplomacy, but that doesn't mean anything until you go out and engage with people".
