Apple's WWDC: Lots of new features, little talk of privacy

07 June 2018

"As with all Apple software updates, enhanced privacy and security remain a top priority in macOS Mojave", said Apple in a post about the new features.

First and foremost is the introduction of a new Dark Mode, which brings a dark theme throughout the operating system.

Dark Mode was rumored in the past few days, one of the few leaks we've seen ahead of this year's WWDC 2018.

It can darken the Finder file explorer app, system apps like Mail, Messages, Maps, Calendar, Photos and much more.

For many users, the most important new feature in macOS Mojave will be the Dark Mode, which makes your desktop, well, dark.

San Jose: Apple has announced iOS 12, the latest version of the most advanced mobile operating system, which will make daily tasks faster and more responsive. The Home app is also going to be available on macOS, and allows you to control and monitor smart devices at your home, and Siri integration enables voice control as well.

Israeli Minister Calls for Military Coalition if Iran Boosts Enrichment Capacity
European signatories are scrambling to save the accord, which they see as crucial to forestalling an Iranian nuclear weapon. Iran has strictly and in all circumstances denied pursuing any military ambitions through its nuclear work.

Stacks: This happens to be a new placeholder that Apple has introduced to ensure users have a cleaner desktop environment. Besides, Apple also confirmed during WWDC 2018 that all existing iTunes purchases will receive Atmos sound-channel upgrades for free.

Group FaceTime: As in iOS 12, Group FaceTime comes with the ability to engage with 32 users at the same time during a FaceTime call.

Another new feature is Desktop Stacks, which automatically arranges icons cluttered on your desktop into "Stacks" by filetype, tag, date and so on, while Finder is getting a new "Gallery" feature that'll show you a large preview of a selected file.

"We're excited to provide our joint customers with easy access to downloads and updates by bringing Office to the newly redesigned Mac App Store".

The new App Store.

Apple also said that Mac OS Mojave would resist a technique called "fingerprinting". These apps will largely look and feel like they do on iOS, but will be optimized for bigger screens as well as mice and keyboards.

Ariya and Kim in U.S. Women's Open playoff
Hyo-Joo Kim hits out of the bunker to the 18th green during the second hole of a playoff in the final round of the U.S. Oh Su-hyun (68) sits at 6 under, alongside Ariya Jutanugarn, who was 1 under through eight holes in her second round.

Other parts of your desktop app may require some custom code; Wired cited examples like making a Mac app sidebar translucent, and incorporating share buttons into the program's toolbar.

The macOS 10.14 Mojave update will become available to consumers in the fall.

With the news about iOS apps appearing on macOS, people began to speculate about a touchscreen on a MacBook.

Those apps include Voice Memos, Home, and Stocks. Safari will also include new protections against "Fingerprinting", in which websites track users based on attributes such as system configuration, fonts, and plug-ins.

Among the most intriguing updates in Mojave is the inclusion of additional privacy and security measures in Safari, where Intelligent Tracking Prevention will help to block social media "Like" or "Share" buttons and comment widgets from tracking users without permission.
